After the Royal Palace and The Cathedral since it did not rain at all and o yeah I couldn't walk we decided to do a quick shoe swap and put on inappropriate shoes, flip flops. I am not kidding it took me over 3 minutes to bend my toes after taking the wellies off. Then we headed over to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid's football stadium, thank you Hop On Hop Off bus for the free transportation, for a tour. We saw the stadium when we are on the bus and it is just outside of downtown Madrid but is still in the city; actually it is weird because it is right on the street. It is HUGE, beyond impressive. For 15 euros you can take a self-guided tour of the stadium. First you head all the way up to the 400 seats so you can see the field and all I can say is WOW!!!! I have been to a few stadiums: RFK, Verizon Center, Fed Ex Field, Shea Stadium (yup old school), Nats Stadium, and baseball stadiums in Japan and Korea, and honestly this was totally different.
Then we walked thru the Trophy Exhibit, which was so impressive - even for a non soccer fan.
I also got to see a picture of my favorite Liverpool Player - Michael Owen - who later played for Real Madrid.
Then we got to walk down to the field and be right there.
And sit in the player's seats
Honestly, this is a must do and amazing.
