From the Waterfalls to the Beach.

From Plitivice National Park we drove to Split. I was driving and Chris was giving the directions. He told me to make a right and I was hesitant since it looked like it was part of someone's driveway. He was insistent to go since there was a sign that said Plitivce National Park but I was hesitant since a) it was a dirt rode b) there was signs that said Zagreb on a nice paved rode and c) next to the signs in Croatian there was a big circle sign with a line through it.  However, Chris, who loves his maps, insisted that we kept going. The road was not really a road, it was barely one lane,  not paved, and on the side of a mountain. We could not turn around so we gingerly made it through. The next day Chris did some research and found out that it is a closed road. So yeah that was awesome.

We made it to Split and had to drive on these tiny roads to find out hotel. Our hotel was awesome. It was run by a  brother and sister (in their late 20's and early 30's) who took their parents house and made it into a 10 room hotel. It took two years but they did it.  Their cousins work the desk and are the cleaning people.  They are so friendly and gave us wonderful recommendations. We walked around and got a little lost. It is a safe place but something about walking around in the dark, without a lot of lights, and graffiti everywhere makes it a little scary but once we got our bearings we were fine.

They told us about a beach, that has a bar/restaurant called Joe's.  Joe's also goes by Joe's beach and they also have a boat that takes us there. The beaches in Croatia are all rocks and the locals just lay down on the rocks but thankfully Joe's had beach chairs you can rent. There is really no sand, which is nice because it doesn't get everywhere but it makes the need for water showers.

Here are some pictures of Joe's Beach.
